A Massive Global Market

The International Maritime Organisation (IMO) legislates on all worldwide marine operations and in addition to the present strict legislation on emission control areas, in October 2016 they confirmed that from 2020, sulphur levels in marine fuels will be further, substantially lowered to 0.5% and apply across all marine fuels worldwide.

World refinery capacity can not meet the projected low sulphur fuel demand and there is a 10 year gestation period with a massive infrastructure cost to change refinery output structures.

A major shipping line has charted the expected dramatic increase in demand that is likely to occur due to ship owners changing to low sulphur marine diesel oil (MGO) causing a massive spike in demand and further premiums for suppliers able to provide low sulphur fuels - refer to graph below.

At Low Sulphur Fuels Ltd. we can produce, using our Fast Electrochemical Process (FEP), a  high value, low sulphur MGO, as well as Naphtha that can be sold into a rising premium market, to achieve long term revenues.

A Massive Feedstock Supply

As market sectors are faced with ever-tightening environmental legislation and increasing public concern over industrial emissions, advanced environmentally focussed technology will not only reduce companies’ emissions and CO₂ footprint, but by recovering value from waste or used raw materials, their operating economics and public image is likely to be substantially enhanced.

By removing these hazardous contaminants, we are able to produce high quality, clean, low sulphur fuel products, and Naphtha, that are equivalent to major oil refinery products, and with a fraction of the energy, emissions and costs that oil refineries incur when creating virgin fuels, or Naphtha.

Refineries all over the world use 'hydrotreating' to remove sulphur from their fuels. Typically a refinery hydrotreater uses enormous volumes of hydrogen at high temperature and pressure which requires massive amounts of energy = high worldwide CO2 emissions. 

Our Fast Electrochemical Process (FEP) does not use Hydrogen, high temperatures or pressures, resulting in:

  • very low emissions - significant improvements for the environment

  • low costs - significant improvements in the profit margin

The Fast Electrochemical Process (FEP) is a low emission, energy recovery process that provides radical alternatives by efficiently creating new energy fuels from 'end of life' material.

The Fast Electrochemical Process (FEP) can accept a wide range of hydrocarbon materials in the form of liquids, solids or gases and its purpose is to recover the hydrocarbon energy content in the form of a clean liquid, solid or gas, energy fuel. It does this by changing the molecular structure of the materials to break down and neutralise hazardous compounds - see diagram below. This enables us to use a significant volume of waste materials that would otherwise be consigned to damaging incineration, chemical treatment or landfill.
